Aquatic Plants

日本萍蓬草
Japanese Spatterdock

Nuphar japonica

Japanese Spatterdock is native to Japan and Korea. Although it belongs to the family of water lilies, it is an emergent herbaceous plant. Its arrow-shaped leaves have long petioles that extend above the water surface from underground rhizomes. When in full bloom, its egg-yellow flowers resemble a bunch of golden cups floating on the water, making for an eye-catching sight.
