An interesting fact about Sleeping Wax Mallow is that its flowers look like never blossom. Their petals holding each other tightly to protect the pistil and stamen. Sleeping Wax Mallow and Chinese Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) are both belong to the Malvaceae family. It is not difficult to imagine that when Sleeping Wax Mallow “blossoms”, it may just look like the Chinese Hibiscus. With the attractive red flowers and the distinctive structure, Sleeping Wax Mallow is an important nectar plant for butterflies.
