Freshwater Plants

Primrose Willow
Ludwigia octovalvis

Primrose Willow is a common species found in freshwater areas. With its lignified reddish brown stem, it looks like a small shrub in upright position along waterside. Primrose Willow has spectacular square-shaped flower with four petals, forming a regular pattern. Because of its banana-shaped red capsule, Primrose Willow is given an interesting Chinese name: Water Banana.
