Lychee is a renowned fruit tree in south China. It has a long history of cultivation. Apart from producing sweet and juicy fruits, Lychee is also an important nectar plant which is very attractive to insects such as bees. The ‘Lychee-honey’ collected is enjoyed by many. The Lychee Stink Bug (Tessaratoma papillosa) feeds on Lychee by sucking the saps from its flowers, young fruits and twigs. Butterflies are also attracted by split and rotten Lychee fruits.
