Water Spinach

Ipomoea aquatica

Water Spinach, also known as Swamp Morning Glory, is a popular wetland crop known for its crispiness. When it is in season during summer, you can find it easily at vegetable stalls. It has typically funnel-shaped flowers of the family Convolvulaceae, and when blooming en masse, these flowers attract numerous honey bees. Additionally, feral Water Spinach in the wild provides shelters for frogs and birds such as Common Moorhens and Greater Painted-snipes.
