Frail Horsetail is a common emergent plant in Hong Kong Wetland Park. It looks like a pen standing in the soil. The ball-shaped structure at the tip of the “pen” is for reproduction. Frail Horsetail can develop an extensive network of underground rhizomes. If you find a patch of Frail Horsetail in a wetland, probably it is just developed from a single individual.
