Water Fern
Ceratopteris thalictroides

Water Fern is an aquatic or semi-aquatic herb. It can be found in ponds, paddy fields and other marshy areas. Water Fern is one of the few fern species that survive in marshes and wetland. Its leaves and stems can be used medicinally. Unfortunately its population size and distribution areas have been decreasing in recent years. Thus now this vulnerable fern is under state protection (category II) in China.
