Cape Leadwort
Plumbago auriculata
Cape Leadwort, also known as Blue Plumbago, is an evergreen shrub native to southern Africa. It has a remarkably long flowering period: from summer to autumn, small pale blue flowers cluster tightly together, forming elegant powder-blue ball of flowers. This plant is not only of ornamental value but, alongside its congener White Leadwort, also serves as a larval food plant of the butterfly Oriental Striped Blue, providing flower buds for their larvae to feed on.
